The Specialty Pharmacy market is the largest pharmacy market in USA. Following is the list of top 5 Specialty Pharmacy in 2020.
- CVS Specialty — $43.9 billion.
- Accredo/ Freedom Fertility — $32.1 billion.
- AllianceRx Walgreens Prime/ Walgreens stores — $21.2 billion.
- Optum Specialty Pharmacy — $17.8 billion.
- Diplomat Pharmacy — $4.5 billion.
The demand of specialty medication is growing rapidly and at the same time price of specialty medication is rising. Insurance companies are attempting to control cost by implementing Prior Authorization (PA) method. Many patients are experiencing challenges in obtaining the specialty medication because they have Medicare/Medicaid and Manufacturers of Specialty drugs do not provide Copay Assistance to patients with Medicare/Medicaid.
